Gwynedd Council
Gwynedd Council provides many services to the County's residents. The Council carries out a number of activities in order to be able to provide these services which impact on our environment by emitting Co2.
A Carbon Management Plan has been adopted by the Council in order to reduce the impact these activities have on our environment.
Gwynedd Council's carbon footprint includes the Co2 that is emitted to the atmosffer as a result of:
- electricity used in our buildings
- fuel used to heat our buildings
- electricity used for our street lighting
- the fuel used in our fleet of vehicles, e.g. refuse and recycling vehicles
- the fuel used in staff private vehicles when travelling for business purposes (not including commuting to work)
- the Co2 emissions resulting from the waste generated at our sites
Our sites include around 800 buildings on around 500 sites. These include:
- Schools (responsible for around 25% of our Co2 emissions)
- Leisure Centres
- Residential Homes
- Offices
- Libraries
- Highways Depots
- Recycling Centres
- And more...
